South East Zone Targets 100% Membership Increase
09 August, 2022: Highlights importance of membership increase to the organization. “There is strength in numbers”.
South East Zone of the National Organization of Nurses and Midwives of Malawi (NONM) says it is aiming for 100% membership increase in the zone.
Zone chairperson, Memory Mpombwe, said this in an interview during check-off mobilization meetings which the organization was conducting with the Human Resource Officers (HROs) in various public hospitals to follow up on check-off membership system.
She said: “NONM’s target is to reach 100% increase in membership as we all know that increase in membership investment plays a critical role in advocacy success as Steve Carell said, and I quote ‘there is strength in numbers.”
Mpombwe also said that the meetings conducted were very important as the organization needs to ensure that newly registered members as well as old ones are effected into check-off system, that all challenges with check-off systems are addressed and that all the data on deductions is available at the secretariat as this helps the organization to know where it stands on membership.
She said: “The goals of the meetings were to orient new HR’s to NONM and the check off system as well as to collect data on membership deductions and to discuss challenges faced by the HROs when carrying out membership deductions through check off system.”
“These meetings are very important as the organization is assured of the regular receipt of their dues from treasury and the data is for statistical analysis.” She added.
